Crowns & Bridges

Crowns are dental restoration tools that dentists use to cover the entire tooth. They effectively ‘cap’ the tooth, replacing its entire chewing surface.

This is why they are also referred to as “caps”. Crowns are used to protect a weak tooth that may be structurally compromised, from breakage. A tooth with a large amount of filling is the most common candidate for this procedure.

Bridges are used by our Seminole and Shawnee, OK dentist to replace one or more missing teeth. Crowns are placed on either side of the gap. These anchoring teeth are called abutment teeth. There is then one or more fake teeth, called pontics, placed in the gap. The result is the appearance of natural teeth and an improved bite.
